​​2019 Ed French Open Information
This tournament is a Big 6 format, with prizes awarded to the teams with the most combined weight of their 6 largest carp caught over 15 pounds. There will also be prizes for the single largest carp caught.
There are no prizes for mirror carp  

Entry into The Ed French Open is $1000 per 2 or 3-person team.

All teams wishing to register for the The Ed French Open must register using an online link that will be provided the day of registration and pay online their $300 deposit (or more if desired).  If you do not want to pay your $300 deposit online, you may send a money order to Kent Appleby, 6897 Buckley Rd, Syracuse, NY 13212 after registering online.  You MUST send your deposit out right away, if we do not get it postmarked within two days of registration online, we will NOT register you for the tournament.​

Each angler is also responsible for paying their $20 Wild Carp Club membership dues at registration, if you have not already paid it for the calendar year of 2019.  All anglers must be Wild Carp Club members to compete in the Ed French Open. Your $20 fee is good for each calendar year, and applies to other club events.

For those teams eligible for early entry, early registration begins Sunday, July 28, 2019. You will be emailed a special link for your online registration.
Registration will be limited to 35 teams, unless new pegs are procured prior to the start of competition.

Entry will be based on the following:
Early Registration:  Early Registration for the Top 10 teams that placed in the 2018 Ed French Open (top 5 in each section) will begin on Sunday, July 28, 2019.  You must have your $300 deposit postmarked no later than August 18, 2019, if you are mailing it in.

Full payment is due by September 15, 2019.
Teams are not allowed to change from your team you had at the 2018 Ed French Open if you are taking advantage of the Early Registration.  2018 qualifiers may still register if teammates are dropped but cannot form more than one team.

Open Registration:  Open Registration begins on Sunday, August 18, 2019 using an online link that will be provided on this website at 10:00 AM EST and also on the Wild Carp Club Tournaments Facebook page. 

Teams can guarantee a spot by either paying the full $1000 registration amount or a $300 deposit.  If teams choose to mail in their registration, spots will be guaranteed by the postmark date on the envelope (with the payment).  The latest the postmark date can be is September 15, 2019 to guarantee a spot.  If we receive over 35 registrations with the full $1000 registration amount or a $300 deposit, the later online registrations or postmark dated registrations will have to be subjected to a draw.

All entries must be paid in full by September 15, 2019.

No further entries will be accepted after September 15, 2019.

Any team that makes a deposit and does not pay their balance by September 15, 2019. will forfeit their deposit

Any team that makes a deposit but does not show up for the tournament will forfeit their deposit

2019 Schedule

Basic Rules

Teams awarded prizes for highest combined weight of
6 largest carp over 15 pounds.  If you don't have 6 qualifying fish you can still win a big fish prize. (common or mirror)
Teams of two or three permitted; six rods per team, one hook per rod

Must possess a NYS fishing license

​Be a Wild Carp Club Member - Can pay $20 Membership Dues at Registration (per angler)

Proper carp care is required, including use of landing mats, catch and release angling, and use of holding sacks when awaiting marshals
Weigh marshal must weigh your catch, record your score and witness the release of each fish
Anglers must sign the weigh marshal score sheet for each recorded weight

Always maintain good sportsmanship while competing against fellow anglers
Teams must have landed six carp to qualify for section prizes
All fish must be at least 15 lb, 0 oz or greater to qualify for the Big 6 total
Be prepared to have enough carp-friendly holding bags to accommodate at least 6 fish; limit of 3 fish per large holding bag

Peg locations are subject to change based on the final number of team entries.

NOTE: At the Wegman's Good Dog Park and Long Branch Park, teams may drive to their pegs to unload their vehicles and/or trailers if the ground is dry. All vehicles and trailers may not enter until 7:00 AM and must be returned to designated parking areas by 9:00 AM. Upon the conclusion of the tournament, vehicles and trailers may not enter until 11:00 AM and must be vacated from the property no later than 12:00 PM. Violating vehicle and trailer use rules may result in a yellow card against your team.
